mon, the owner, left school to work for Tesco. He joined
their managerial scheme and was one of the youngest staff
to be given the privilege of being a key-holder at 18.
While Simon was working for Tesco, his father was employed
in the furniture retail industry. He found that suppliers could
not meet the demand for their orders. It was at this point 
Simon and his mother set up their own furnishings company
making 3 piece suites themselves.

During his 15 years with the company, Simon learned all about
manufacturing and the retail furniture industry. While many in
the industry stuck to one trade, Simon learned the skills of
cutting fabrics and foam, sewing of all kinds, e.g. over-locking,
piping, saddle stitch etc, and then went on to master the art of
 upholstery. He eventually progressed to develop skills in the
designing of furniture, working with the framemakers to produce
the desired effect.

He then took a break from furniture to persue other interests.
He owned and ran a café and worked in the car and computer
 industry.

Simon decided to go back to what he knew - the furniture
industry, where his company has grown from strength to strength.
 First he opened the bed shop in Pickford Mill and then the 3 piece
suite shop in Charlotte Street , off Sunderland street, Macclesfield.
 Sales were growing well and it was time to expand which he did.
In October 2007 he took over the newly refurbished top floor of
Pickford Street Mill. This allowed the company to  greatly expand, 
giving the customer even greater choice than ever before.

In addition to the beds, sofas and chairs he also stocks and
supplies furniture items such as dining sets, wall units,
bedroom furniture, rugs and artwork.

Some of the artwork on show is painted by his uncle, renowned
 artist Samuel Edelstein, also a fashion designer in his earlier
 years. His grandmother was a dress designer for Bollywood,
(Indian Hollywood)

Looking at the furniture retail market Simon believed that
customers shouldn’t have to pay elevated prices and suffer
lengthy waiting periods. All his beds can be delivered in under
 three weeks. 90% in under 14 days and some the same day if
he's got it in stock - a mean feat for even the big retailers. 

The 3 piece suites, sofas etc, made to the customers'
specification, subject to availability of the chosen fabric, can be
 manufactured and delivered in around 4 weeks.  The bigger stores
 who don’t actually make their own furniture, can take several
months to deliver. The suites manufactured by Simon's family give
the customer a huge size range. This is a unique benefit for many
of Simon's customers who tell him a lot of the suites offered today
 are too large for many of our local Macclesfield houses.
