Divan beds

   A Platform top base contains no springs and the mattress is resting
 on a solid platform which makes a firm sleep system. The extent of the firmness will
depend on the gauge number of the spring in the mattress. A 12 gauge spring unit will feel
 a great deal firmer than a 13 gauge spring unit.

A Sprung  edge base will soften the feel of a very firm mattress and has
the same number of springs as a Bonnell mattress unit of the same size. The springs of a
sprung edge base are on top of the base which is like having two mattresses next to each other.
 This makes the sleep system quite soft at the edges and one should not sit on the edge of a
 sprung edge bed if it can be avoided.

Before you select your new bed it is imperative that you try out the various sleep systems available
to you i.e. Pocket springing, Memory foam, Bonnell springing, Sprung edge, Platform top etc.
A mattress on a sprung base will feel a lot softer than the same mattress on a solid base. Whichever
 bed you select you want it to give you complete satisfaction regarding comfort and support.
